easyJet has announced three brand-new routes are on sale from London Southend Airport to Reus and Almeria in Spain, and the popular Mediterranean island of Malta, with departures from March 2025.

Earlier this year, easyJet announced the opening of a three-aircraft base at London’s award-winning Southend airport, along with seven new package holiday destinations: Gran Canaria and Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Dalaman and Antalya in Turkey, Enfidha in Tunisia, Marrakech in Morocco and Pisa in Italy.

Now, both flight-only seats and easyJet holidays packages are available to book for all ten destinations, with the first flights set to depart from 30 March 2025, bringing the total number of beach, city and ski routes from London Southend to 17.

The opening of a base signals easyJet’s continued expansion in the UK and further strengthens its network by positioning it as the carrier of choice to serve UK consumers and capture the continued demand for travel. It will also create around 130 direct jobs for pilots and crew in the UK and support many more direct and indirect jobs within easyJet and the airport, in the coming years.

Since easyJet operations at London Southend began in 2012, the airline has flown more than seven million customers from the airport, with customers choosing the airport as a quick and easy option when flying to destinations across Europe and North Africa.

Ali Gayward, easyJet's UK Country Manager, commented: “We are delighted to be putting 10 new routes on sale from our new base at London Southend Airport, which we look forward to opening next spring. Our continued growth and investment in the UK highlights the importance of this market and provides UK consumers with even more choice, with our customers choosing our flights and holidays for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares.

“We have flown over seven million customers from London Southend since we started our operation there in 2012 and, whether they are flying for business or leisure, we look forward to welcoming even more of them onboard.”

Marc Taylor, acting CEO London Southend Airport, said: “London Southend Airport is committed to providing a seamless, high-quality travel experience for people living in the east of London, Essex and East Anglia region, and we thank easyJet for expanding its range of choices.

"Thousands of travellers from across the south east have already chosen London Southend as their airport of choice for trips to Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and France this summer, and advanced flight and holidays bookings already filling up for winter sun, city and ski breaks. With quick and easy direct connections to our airport – just 53 minutes from London Liverpool Street by train and 42 minutes from Stratford, London – our passengers can now access even more fantastic destinations across Europe.”
