In September, the Essex Police Business Crime Team launch our ‘Just Here to Work’ campaign against Harassment in the workplace.

The difference between Harassment and Bullying.
Harassment may be an ongoing pattern of behaviour, or it may be just a single act. Anti-discrimination law defines harassment as any form of behaviour that: you do not want. offends, humiliates, or intimidates you. creates a hostile environment.

Although there is no legal definition of bullying, it can be described as unwanted behaviour from a person or group that is either:

• offensive, intimidating, malicious or insulting.
• an abuse or misuse of power that undermines, humiliates, or causes physical or emotional harm to someone.

As an evolution of the ‘Just Here to Train’ gyms and leisure centre campaign we will now be offering updated poster assets to work places and working groups across Essex. As in the case of our original work the vividly coloured and designed posters are encouraged for display across staff rest areas and congregation points. QR Code links providing offence information regarding Stalking and harassment and a second link to the Essex Police ‘Report It’ page are prominently placed.

Partnering with Essex Police on this staff welfare project is designed to support and complement existing workplace policy, encourage a culture of openness, reasonable behaviour and staff feeling supported by a responsible and progressive employer.

What we will do...

• Approach workplaces across Essex for their support. Provide campaign assets; an explanation of the project aims and signposting to us and other services.
• Monitor reports, offer support to both victims and business, and ensure that all available enquiries are complete.
• Assess the effectiveness of the campaign through workplace survey and review of the QR code link interactions.
• Evaluate and make reasonable adjustment in approach where necessary.
