If your organisation is looking for a unique teambuilding activity that supports the local community, there are exciting volunteering opportunities at Farleigh Hospice’s Walk for Life on Sunday 11 May.
Walk for Life is a family-friendly, sponsored walk through the beautiful Essex countryside along the towpath of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. It takes place over two distances: the 12km route starts at Paper Mill Lock, Little Baddow and the 24km route starts at Heybridge Basin. Both finish at the Teledyne e2v offices in Waterhouse Lane, Chelmsford. www.farleighhospice.org/walk.
The money raised from sponsorship helps Farleigh to continue providing specialist palliative and end of life care to adults with a life-limiting illness and their families and carers, both in their homes across mid Essex and at its Inpatient Unit in Chelmsford. Farleigh also offers information and support to bereaved children and adults. It makes no charge for any of these much-needed services.
Farleigh Hospice is a charity and relies on the support of a large number of enthusiastic volunteers at its fundraising events.
Jacqui Shannon, Fundraising Partnership Officer, explains, “Walk for Life is a day of fun, fitness, and community spirit. We need help in a wide range of roles that really contribute to the success of this event, including registering the participants before they start the walk, marshalling along each route and handing out medals and t-shirts.
“We are very grateful to every organisation that supports its staff to volunteer. Any time they can give will make a big impact on the lives of the local people that Farleigh Hospice cares for.
“Organisations can also encourage colleagues to put together a team to take part in the event and get sponsored for Farleigh. If they are able to match-fund the money that they collect for completing the 12km or 24km routes, they will be helping them to make a difference to local hospice care with every step they take.”
