Local rail operator Trenitalia c2c is proud to be supporting Southend-based homeless charity, HARP, this festive season by hosting donation and fundraising events across the network.
HARP Southend provides support to homeless people across the city, helping those affected by ensuring they have housing, warm clothes and food.
The team at Southend Central station hosted a fundraising event, with HARP staff and volunteers on hand to raise awareness for the incredible work the charity does – especially at this time of year.
Customers were able to donate money or buy items from the stall that HARP set out, with items such as Christmas tree ornaments and wreaths all available to buy.
Across the week of 9 – 13 December at c2c’s London headquarters, the organisation collected donations from our colleagues, such as winter clothes and food, to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
The organisation is also encouraging customers to donate goods and clothing at HARP’s charity shops across the city or donate directly on their website.
c2c Managing Director, Rob Mullen, said: "We want to support HARP’s mission to combat homelessness in any way we can. Unfortunately, festive periods can be hard for many people out there and we wanted to show our community spirit by getting involved with HARP this winter to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
“We are proud to have hosted HARP at Southend Central station and give all our customers the chance to give what they can in aid of those who need the most help.”
Charlotte Stein, Fundraising and Communications Lead at HARP, added: “We have been working with c2c over the last two years and the support we have received has been truly amazing.
“The need for our services is growing day by day, so with your donations, you are helping to support HARP throughout the coldest months.”
c2c is a longstanding supporter of HARP, which has been providing housing, advice and support to thousands of people each year in the city since it launched in 2002.
