Old Park Meadow Natural Burial Ground is a final resting place full of wildflowers and young woodland, a space visiting family and friends can return to and enjoy together.
The natural burial ground located between Chelmsford and Great Dunmow in Essex offers natural burial and ash interments, services, wakes and the opportunity to pre-purchase a burial or ash plot in advance.
Old Park Meadow Natural Burial Ground has become a welcoming community for residents across Essex, through their community events such as their gardening club and coffee morning that is hosted every Wednesday between 9am-12pm and 10am-12pm respectively and on the third Wednesday of every month Old Park Meadow and St Clare Hospice host a bereavement café between 10am and 11:30am for people to meet and connect with others who have experienced loss.
The natural burial ground’s community efforts do not stop there, they are also involved in several different charities and initiatives throughout Essex. Their most recent involvement has been with Compassionate Communities to help with an inspirational and thought-provoking new art exhibition which is on in the centre of Chelmsford until Sunday 3 November.
The Mid and South Essex Compassionate Communities Campaign Art Exhibition is being held at The Art Place in the Meadows Shopping Centre and was officially opened by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst.
It showcases the incredible artwork of 56 different local artists, around the theme of ‘Celebrating Living, Caring and Dying’. The unique pieces of art are the creative expressions of very personal experiences, reflections and stories in a range of media including painting, drawing, photography, art, sculpture, writing, poetry and music.
Old Park Meadow has been the subject of inspiration for local artist, Tracey Ingram who painted a piece of art featuring the landscape at Old Park Meadow.
This exhibition is the latest initiative from Mid and South Essex Compassionate Communities Campaign, which is a collaboration of local community groups and organisations, including universities, colleges, libraries and art galleries, charities, and health and social care. Their aim is to improve awareness and discussions around death, dying and bereavement, to create compassionate communities that care for and support one another during these times.
The Compassionate Communities Art Exhibition is free to enter. Visit The Art Place website for opening times.
