WHEN THE UNEXPECTED ARRIVED AT OUR HEAD OFFICE

In early August 2023, a faint meowing sound caught our attention from the garage area of the scrap man next door. Known for caring for feral cats, he confirmed that one of the cats had recently given birth to a litter of kittens, approximately two weeks old. Despite his efforts, the meowing persisted, and our concern grew.

We sought permission from the scrap man to access the back of his shed from our car park, suspecting that a kitten might be trapped inside after falling from the roof. With his approval, we cut a hole in the shed, revealing the stranded kitten.

One of our fitters, Steve, spotted the kitten but couldn't reach it. After breaking down some rotten boarding, the tiny feline, now named JB after John's Blinds Limited, emerged and found safety in Steve's arms.

Attempts to reunite JB with her mother proved unsuccessful as the mother rejected her. It was then decided that JB would become a part of the John's Blinds team.

JB found a caretaker in Laura, a kind-hearted woman who hand-reared the kitten, noting JB's fortunate survival after four days without her mother's milk. When JB turned approximately eight weeks old, she was ready to find her permanent home.

Kim, one of our staff members, had recently returned from Greece, where her son, also named JB, developed a fondness for stray cats. Serendipitously, on September 3rd, Little JB found her forever home with Kim's son.

Now six months old, JB has been microchipped and spayed, embracing her life with joy. She's not alone in her adventures—Morph the Tortoise has become a dear friend. Playful and curious, JB looks forward to many more delightful escapades.
