A South Essex College fashion student has been mentioned in an international article about fashion stars of the future.
Global higher education website, Study International, put together a list of fashion students and graduates who are ‘killing it with their designs’.
Molly Martha Neill, Level 3 Fashion Design student at the college’s Southend Campus, has been featured for her LGBTQ+ advocacy. This inspires her designs through colours and genders to create playful pieces.
She’s in good company on the list featuring alongside students from top creative universities such as Central Saint Martins in London and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in California, USA.
Molly said it felt ‘unreal’ to be mentioned in the article. She said: “I still can’t believe it, with the number of global designers and fashion content available online it feels crazy to have been included.”
Molly is about to finish her time at the college and study for a fashion degree at London Metropolitan University from September. She added: “I’ve loved studying fashion at the college, I’ve learnt so much over the last two years. My teachers have always been supportive and ready to discuss ideas and push us further.
“Students at the college get incredible opportunities such as the chance to put on a real-life end of year fashion show, giving us experience in the industry. The main thing I will take away with me is increased confidence. I hope to have my own sustainable fashion line in the future.”
Megan Brophy, Curriculum Head of Design and Fine Art, said: “The fashion team is extremely proud of Molly’s achievements on the course and we cannot wait to see what Molly has in store for her future. She has always been full of creative, innovative and inspiring ideas, and is truly deserving of being recognised around the world for her talent. I remember interviewing Molly and thinking ‘she’ll be one to watch’. We wish her all the luck at university and beyond.”
