Record year of promotions for Essex Law firm

Birkett Long is delighted to announce a record number of promotions in 2020
Despite the turbulent year during Covid-19, Birkett Long has recognised that all staff have gone over and above but, for some, this means a promotion to Associate or Senior Associate level.
Since May 2020, Birkett long has promoted 10 members of staff to Associate and 7 Associates to Senior level.
The criteria for promotion to Associate covers candidates from both fee earning and support teams. A candidate needs to demonstrate what they do over and above the ‘day job’, demonstrating increasing numbers of excellent/good categories for promotion from their existing level. The criteria not only covers financial performance but also focuses on relationships, business development, personal skills and profile and firm procedures.
Birkett Long’s promotions include Leonie Dolling, HR Adviser in the HR team, Thomas Emmett, Solicitor in the Commercial & Corporate team and Head of Education, Emma Jenkins, Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team, Karen Johnson, Solicitor in the Divorce and Family team, Joanna Tollworthy, Solicitor in the Wills, Trusts and Probate team, Jasmin Patel, Solicitor in the Residential Real Estate team, Marina Athanasiou, Solicitor and Head of Residential Real Estate, Rachel Leech, Solicitor in the Court of Protection & Inheritance Disputes team, Perdeep Grewal, Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team and Gaye Eason, Documents and Administration Manager.
Gaye Eason said: “I am very pleased to have gained the promotion and for my hard work to be recognised. Especially over the past 7 months, working in the office and supporting all teams across our three offices.”
The Senior Associate promotions were awarded to Emma Coke, Solicitor & Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association, Mark Davidson, Director of IT, Tim Field, Solicitor in the Commercial & Corporate team, Emma Harper, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, Jonathan Perlmutter, , Helen Pettican, Quality and Compliance Manager, and Tracy England, Head of Colchester Dispute Resolution team.
Tim Field said: “I am very pleased to have been promoted to the position of Senior Associate at Birkett Long. I feel that my
experience in other industries has helped me to progress my career as a solicitor, coupled with the fact that I have been fortunate to have supportive colleagues who have guided and mentored me.”
