High Chelmer is calling for the people of Chelmsford to 'Be a Hero, Mask Up in the Malls, Help Save Lives' with its all-new campaign to further encourage the use of face coverings. Visitors to the shopping centre will notice familiar silver-screen characters have been drafted in to help spread the message that for those who are able to, a face covering should be worn inside High CheImer as well as its stores.
A huge, inflatable Spiderman has been installed in Central Square and cardboard cut-outs of other favourite superheroes can be seen throughout the centre, with all wearing face coverings as a reminder to shoppers of where the rules apply. The cardboard versions will then be auctioned off to the highest bidders, with all proceeds to be donated to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Mick McDonagh, centre manager at High Chelmer, said: "Keeping our shoppers and colleagues safe is of utmost importance at all times and especially as we navigate through the pandemic. Our visitors have been adapting well to the latest government measures of wearing a face covering but we have launched 'Be a Hero' as a fun and engaging way to reinforce the important message that one is also to be worn in all areas inside High Chelmer for the people who are not exempt. The campaign will also provide the chance for the public to have their very own Thor, Wonder Woman or Superman while giving back to a wonderful charity."
