Scrutton Bland have been at the forefront of providing assistance to businesses across our region to help them submit claims to the government’s Job Retention Scheme (JRS).
Since the government JRS portal opened three weeks ago, the advisers at Scrutton Bland have been working to help business owners access funds to help claim for employees’ wages whilst they are on temporary leave (or furloughed) during the coronavirus pandemic.
The funds processed for clients are already well over £500k to the period ending 30 April, with another £100k in the process of being submitted.
Scrutton Bland’s COVID-19 Business Support Team, led by Luke Morris, has been pulling together to get the message across to local businesses that there is advice and support for them to help process their applications and to get vital funding in place. “This is an unprecedented situation for everyone,” says Luke. “We are here to assist our clients to access government support in order to keep our region’s economy in the strongest possible place in order to recover. Many businesses would have had to close without these grants, so it is very important that they get financial assistance in place as quickly as possible.”
Sarah Healey Pearce, Business Advisory Director commented: “If you cannot maintain your current workforce because your operations have been severely affected by coronavirus (COVID-19), you can furlough employees and apply for a grant that covers 80% of their usual monthly wage costs, up to £2,500 a month. We know how important these grants are to local businesses, which is why Scrutton Bland has been working so hard to make sure they get the financial support they need and deserve.”
Sarah added: “If any business, whether they are a client or not, needs advice on grants, loans and other government support please give us a call. We can help you assess what help there may be for you and can help make sure that the information you submit is comprehensive and presented in the best possible way to help speed up the process.”
