In line with government guidance, all customers travelling on London and South Essex train operator c2c must wear face coverings both onboard trains and at its stations from Monday June 15.
c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: “We are urging customers looking to travel on our services next week to be prepared and bring a face covering with them. We know the requirement to wear face coverings on trains will be new to our customers but wearing one helps prevent the spread of coronavirus and reduces the risk to those around you.”
In order to help passengers comply with social distancing, c2c is still asking customers to avoid using its services unless their journey is absolutely necessary and they have no other way to travel.
Although c2c resumed operation of its standard weekly timetable on Monday 18 May, social distancing means that capacity remains extremely limited and it is urging customers to avoid its busiest trains in the morning and evening peak. Customers are also asked to buy their tickets online or use a c2c Smartcard or contactless payment.
