At Windsock Company we supply windsocks as health and safety aids to several industries including water treatment plants.
Windsocks are a simple and accurate wind direction indicator which are a vital health and safety aid to water plants during the process of filtering and purifying our drinking water. As part of the process lime-based products are used to soften and improve the water quality. The water purification process ensures we have better tasting water and our water lathers readily.
Lime dust can be an irritant to humans if inhaled or comes in contact with eyes or skin. This hazard is increased in cases in high winds where lime dust could be blow around the water treatment plant.
By installing a windsock on site, in the event of strong winds, site staff can clearly see the direction of the wind and take the necessary action to avoid contact with the lime dust.
Recently we have provided a windsock for this purpose to Alpha Building Services (Wales) Ltd at a Water Treatment Works in South Wales. On the site there are 3 windsocks positioned in clearly visible areas around the plant. The windsocks provide an essential precautionary measure to indicate wind direction for potential lime dust hazards that may occur in high or cross winds. Mal Jenkins of Alpha Building Services (Wales) Ltd who has installed windsocks for Welsh Water and other company’s commented “The windsock and parts supplied by Windsock Company are of a high quality and the instructions supplied were very easy to follow making the installation very straightforward.”
