July saw the launch of an innovative partnership between Essex County Council and JMW Media to provide digital outdoor screen advertising across the region’s bus transport network. This exciting offer sees advertising opportunities being made available across a range of screens which display real time transport information to bus passengers who are continuously engaging with the screens whilst waiting for their buses.
The launch follows a highly successful pilot which began in Chelmsford last November and provides a way for companies to promote their brand within the heart of the community. It also offers a range of benefits to the economy, with local businesses, charities and other organisations already seeing the rewards. Other local businesses involved in the pilot include Anytime Fitness, Girlguiding UK and events companies such as the popular Evoke Festival.
An important factor in the partnership is that it provides Essex County Council with an innovative way to fund their passenger transport infrastructure and continue to both maintain and expand the county’s transport information whilst reducing costs. James Hopkins, Business Development Manager at Essex County Council’s Integrated Passenger Transport Unit said: “Our goal is to provide public transport users in Essex with one of the UK’s largest and best maintained real time passenger information screen networks whilst reducing the overall running costs to our residents. We are keen to work with local businesses, services and groups who may never have considered using digital media as a place to advertise themselves. This opportunity gives them the chance to broaden their reach in a cost-effective way.”
A variety of screen networks are now available across Colchester, Basildon, and Chelmsford. With almost 200 screens available across the county, including new large format 75” screens at the busy Chelmer Valley and Sandon Park and Rides, advertisers now have a unique way to promote their business and services.
