RP2 is a media buying business based in Chelmsford. The business has been in existence for over 25 years and is one of the largest media independent companies in the UK. Their recent win of Farrow and Ball complements their existing client base that includes very large advertisers like Harveys and Bensons for Beds though medium size national advertisers like Decathlon and Fila to local advertisers based in Essex.
RP2 are fiercely protective of their independent ownership because they feel that this gives them the ability to combine their scale (they turnover over £50m per year) with the requirement to give every one of their clients a bespoke service that is individually designed to deliver what each client wants. This could be sales or awareness uplifts or increased distribution at retail.
The fact that they have a diverse range of clients requiring a range of service over different types of media is something that keeps them on their toes. In the past year or so we have opened stores for Decathlon, launched new products with Fila, extended distribution for Floradix and even launched their own toy range at retail stores across the UK. This means that they are ready to accept any challenge that comes their way. Probably the most complex brief they have received recently was the launch of the last Adele album, 25. RP2 had to place the TV commercial in hand-picked slots in the UK, Europe and the remainder of the world. These slots needed to be pre-negotiated without the media owners knowing what product was being promoted. They utilised their network of international affiliate agencies to deliver on this and the album was launched with great success.
RP2 believe in combing experience with young fresh thinking. The Board have experience in all forms of media of over 30 years and have also invested in the apprenticeship scheme run by ECC. This has helped them nurture young local talent into their business.
One thing that they are looking to do for local businesses is a free health check. This can be in traditional media or in the digital space. RP2 can also look at both areas combined if that is what is required. They look at what is being presently done and advise on both pricing and also potential changes and amendments to strategy which may help in achieving objectives. This may be done by spending less money or by spending the same amount of money and achieving more.
RP2 cover the following areas of traditional media; TV, Press, Outdoor, Radio and Direct Mail. In terms of Digital they cover SEO, PPC, Programmatic, Social and everything in between. They also work with a number of local creative agencies so a full-service approach can be put together if required.
RP2 have been a very successful business in the Essex region for many years and would really like to engage with more local businesses as they move forward. If you would like to get in touch, please contact either Simon Cox or Dave Bex.
The media landscape is changing dramatically and the way that people are consuming media is also changing. Tablets, smartphones and laptops are taking share away from TV, newspapers and other forms traditional media. This factor creates issues for advertisers but also provides huge opportunities that RP2 are helping their client base take advantage of.
