Trunk Logistics Head of Operations, Jake Bedding, ran in the London ½ Marathon on April 6th and absolutely smashed it!
Jake not only completed the 13.1 mile challenge in only 1 hour and 35 minutes, but he did it while raising money for the charity Widowed and Young, in support of friends and loved ones who lost their partners too young.
Widowed and Young is the UK’s only national charity for individuals under 50 who have lost loved ones too soon. Founded in 1997, it has over 5,700 members across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
An incredible £500+ was raised through donations, which will go a long way in helping Widowed and Young to continue their work.
This funding will help them to provide essential services to those in need, such as peer to peer support, social events, and access to resources that assist in coping with grief and rebuilding your life after the loss of a loved one.
After completing the half marathon Jake said, “Running the half marathon was a personal challenge, but it meant so much more knowing that I was doing it for those who really need support.”
Jo Sedley-Burke, Managing Director at Trunk Logistics and Chair of the national Charity, said “Following the death of my wife this charity literally saved my life with support, understanding and friendship. I can’t thank Jake enough for running for such an amazing cause.”
