Thurrock News & EventsBusinesses welcome more Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines departures from Tilbury
On Monday 7th December, Essex Chambers of Commerce invited guest speaker Rachael Jackson of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines to the popular 'Thoroughly Thurrock' twilight networking event. Talking to more than 60 businesses about the impact for local businesses of increasing departures from Tilbury in 2016, as well as the history of this award-winning, family-run cruise line.
Rachael spoke about the increasing popularity of cruise holidays amongst UK passengers and how the demand for no-fly cruises departing from UK ports has been felt by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines. As their clients enjoy the convenience of a departure closer to home, without the hassle of flying, the close proximity of Tilbury to London and the good road links to South East England has seen a rise in demand from Fred. Olsen clients to start and end their cruises in Tilbury. As a result the cruise line plans to increase the number of ex-Tilbury sailings by 50% in 2016, to a total of six - a considerable benefit to the wider business community, as well as Fred. Olsen’s passengers.
Rachael said about the event, “We would like to congratulate Essex Chambers on an excellent and very festive ‘Thoroughly Thurrock’ event, and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines was delighted to take part for the very first time."
“As a regional cruise line, the 50% increase in departures from Tilbury on board ‘Black Watch’ in 2016 see Fred. Olsen growing its connections within the Essex area. An event such as ‘Thoroughly Thurrock’ presents a valuable opportunity to work with the local business community to discuss potential future partnerships and share industry experience."

Networking at its most festive in Thurrock
Once again the Thurrock office held its very festive, Christmas networking event with over 60 Chamber members and guests attending the informal networking day on Wednesday 2nd December. With mulled wine, mince pies and lucky dip draw Christmas present this was networking at its most festive.
As always there was much talking and laughter in the room but this informal setting did not detract from business being done in true Essex Chambers of Commerce style. It was a wonderful conclusion to an excellent year in Thurrock.
We would like to say thank you to our members who contributed to the festive fun with donations to a business card draw; including Ince PR, Rhys McCardle Group, ActionCOACH, ICF Supplies Ltd, Toomey Nissan EV, Essex Wildlife Trust, DP World London Gateway, Image On, Fix Auto Dagenham and Expense Reducation Analysts.
Patrons DP World London Gateway joined other members in toasting a successful year of networking in Thurrock with regular events at the Thurrock office, the popular twilight networking Thoroughly Thurrock at Orsett Hall, as well as a number of private events with Network Rail and The Highways Agency on the Lower Thames Crossing proposals.
The recent expansion of the Thurrock office to now include a fully equipped business meeting/board room makes it the ideal location for both Chambers and local businesses to host meetings, training or seminars. For more information email us on firstname.lastname@example.org
