Surya Hotels Group expands with historic George Hotel, Colchester and 4 Dragonfly Hotels

During 2015, two successful acquisitions expanded the group further; the historic George Hotel in Colchester - one of Colchester's most iconic and long standing hotels along with four Dragonfly hotels. Hotels within the portfolio include a 50-room King’s Lynn hotel, a 50-room Colchester hotel, a 71-room Bury St Edmunds hotel and a 70-room Peterborough hotel.

Additionally, the Flying Trade Group is the business behind the local initiative of One Castle Park –Claudius Gateway. Situated in the strip of land between Colchester Castle and High Street – The largest archeological find in Europe, dating back to AD50’s.
Surya, had plans to run a commercial restaurant business from the premises, however after the historic roman remains were found, they decided to preserve and display the ruins to the local community and visitors to the town. The Museum and coffee shop will be opening in Summer 2016, allowing the public to come in and view the remains through Perspex glass flooring along with various artifacts, on a donation basis with the proceeds going to World Food Aid – A charity with the primary purpose to eradicate world hunger. Supported and funded through Surya Foods.
