Top 20 UK accountancy firm, Wilkins Kennedy’s Southend office, has announced the third sporting sponsorship in six months in the form of Benfleet Vikings RFC.
It all started in July when WK Southend continued their sponsorship of Essex County Cricket Club, shortly followed by Westcliff RFC under-12s and youth festival in September.
The Benfleet Vikings, who’s honorary president is Benfleet resident and Saracens player Jackson Wray, was next on the list. As a relatively new club in town, they were in need of financial backing to help get it off the ground.
Wilkins Kennedy Southend’s Partner, Paul East, became involved in the Club after his son joined the team. It became clear to him that they were in need of some sponsorship to help the club grow and attract new members.
Not only has Paul secured all-important funding for the club from Wilkins Kennedy, he has also invested his personal time and money by undertaking a coaching qualification. This will enable the club to benefit from financial backing as well as hands-on advice.
Paul commented: “There is a thriving sports community in the area and many local clubs have longer histories and are more established. However, the smaller clubs often need an injection of cash to help them get started and we saw that it was important to be a part of that.
“Also the all-inclusive ethos that Adrian Boyce, the club founder, brings from his years of experience in the sport is something I truly believe in.
“It’s true that the sport really brings about a sense of community and the core values that are taught from a young age are hugely beneficial. Wilkins Kennedy as a firm supports plenty of community projects as it is something at the heart of what we do. The sponsorship of Benfleet Vikings RFC adds to WK Southend’s commitment to local sports and charitable initiatives. The Club is also important to myself and my colleagues at the firm and we are delighted to be associated with them.”
